href=\"https:\/\/www.uksestukseni.ee\/en\/2026\/11\/03\/how-to-choose-a-moving-company\/\">how to choose a moving company<\/a>).<\/li>\n<li>Go through your things and decide what to take, sell, give away or throw out.<\/li>\n<li>If you rent, give your landlord notice as agreed in the contract.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>2\u20133 weeks before<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Order boxes and packing material or the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uksestukseni.ee\/en\/packing-service\/\">packing service<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Start packing things you do not use every day \u2013 books, seasonal clothes, decorations.<\/li>\n<li>Arrange <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uksestukseni.ee\/en\/old-furniture-waste-removal-services\/\">old furniture removal<\/a> so you do not take unnecessary things to the new home.<\/li>\n<li>Inform your electricity, internet and insurance providers and arrange the transfer of contracts.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>1 week before<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Pack most of your things and label the boxes with the room and contents.<\/li>\n<li>Dismantle large furniture that will not fit through the door and put the screws in a bag attached to the furniture.<\/li>\n<li>Arrange parking and, if needed, use of the lift at both addresses.<\/li>\n<li>Order mail forwarding to the new address.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>The day before the move<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Defrost and dry the fridge.<\/li>\n<li>Pack a \u201cfirst night box\u201d: documents, chargers, medicines, toiletries, bed linen and a couple of changes of clothes.<\/li>\n<li>Set aside valuables and documents and carry them yourself.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>On moving day<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Be there when the movers arrive and show them everything that goes.<\/li>\n<li>Photograph the meter readings in the old and new home.<\/li>\n<li>Before leaving, check all cupboards, the balcony, basement and storage room.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>After the move<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Register your new address in the population register
